Guadalajara wants Gay Games

Guadalajara has launched a bid to host Gay Games XI in 2022, along with ten other cities worldwide.

Seven of the 11 cities that submitted letters of intent and the respective fees are from the United States.

The Gay Games was conceived by Dr. Tom Waddell, an Olympic decathlete, and first held in San Francisco in 1982.

“The impact that the games has in host cities is incredible in terms of culture, sport, economic impact, history and most importantly furthering all matters of LGBT+ equality,” says David Killian, officer of site selection.

Final bids are due on November 30 and the winning city will be chosen from three finalist candidates in October 2017.
