US to help Guadalajara modernize its traffic system

On Thursday, U.S. Consul General Susan Abeyta and Jalisco Transport Secretary Mauricio Gudiño signed the accord that will allow for the provision of intelligent transportation system technology and assistance, with the aim of improving mobility in the city.

According to a state government press release, the study will cost US$686,275 and be financed in its entirety by the USTDA, an agency that promotes economic growth in developing and middle income countries. Only U.S. companies will be able to bid for the contract.

The study is expected to pave the way to the implementation of more modern traffic control systems, similar to those introduced most recently in cities such as Portland and Vancouver.
