A Touch of Twang

Enjoy the songs of some of the most famous female music legends at the Queens of Country Music show featuring tribute artist Bonnie Kilroe. 

Shows are on Thursday, March 24 and Saturday, March 26, 5 p.m. at The Red Room at Act II Stages in the Old Town, on the corner of Insurgentes and Basilio Badillo. 

Kilroe is an award-winning talent who has delighted audiences throughout North America with her compelling musical and comedic performances. Singing and strutting her stuff since 2000, Kilroe has superb vocals, outrageous humor and amazing transformations, making for an evening of incredible entertainment.

Legends showcased include Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and Reba McEntire. Even Crystal Gayle and Tanya Tucker make appearances.

Eco Tour

Explore the swamps of Puerto Vallarta by taking the boat tour of El Salado Estuary. 

Although the area is surrounded by human development, it is safeguarded as a federal protected zone. The estuary features mangroves, marshes and remnants of a tropical semi-deciduous forest.  

The tour takes approximately two hours and you can see around 30 species of amphibians and reptiles, ten types of mammals, as well as a great variety of invertebrates and fish. If you are lucky, you may spot some of the 100 species of birds that make the estuary their home. 

The tours are guided by a biologist and take place Tuesdays to Fridays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Meet at Door 4, on Francisco Medina Ascencio, facing the Naval Hospital. Reservations are mandatory.

Mellow Music

The Puerto Vallarta Reggae Festival takes place Friday, March 25, 6-10:30 p.m. at the oceanside Mega Flamingos event area. Gates open 4 p.m. 

Around 10,000 reggae fans are expected to come together for this unique festival featuring  performances by several international artists and groups, including Ky-Mani Marley, Kassiano, La Yaga and Maurice Englishmen.

The outdoor venue is conveniently located behind the Mega grocery store in the south hotel zone.

Outdoor Shopping

The Old Town Farmer’s Market/Tianguis Cultural reopened on November 7, 2015.  It will run every Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., until April 30. 

The market is located in Lazaro Cardenas Park on the south side of town, just one block from Los Muertos beach.

About 30 vendors sell organic produce, apparel for the family, homemade dips and salsas, fresh-cut flowers, coffee, breads, cheeses, chocolates, handcrafted jewelry, body products, refreshing beverages, plus take home and freshly prepared foods.
