US Consulate staff join in pride march

Last Saturday’s Guadalajara Pride march, the second LGBTQ parade in the city in a week, included a group of employees from the U.S. Consulate General who joined the procession from the Minerva to the city center holding a banner expressing their “support for equality.”

The banner featured the logo of GLIFAA, the officially recognized organization representing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender personnel and their families in the U.S. Department of State, and other U.S. foreign affairs agencies.

Traffic police estimated the number of participants at around 1,700, although organizers said the figure was much higher, despite the rain.

Many participants wore black ribbons to remember the victims of the recent Orlando shootings.
