Popular Christmas market finds new home

Vendors who each year install themselves at the popular Christmas market in the small park facing the Museo de Periodismo on Avenida Alcalde (Jardin San Jose) have been moved due to ongoing work on line three of the city’s Tren Ligero (subway) network.

The new location of the seasonal tianguis is the Parque del Refugio at the corner of Mariano Barceno and Joaquin Angulo, one block from the unmistakable Templo de Nuestra Señora del Refugio church that is situated slap bang in the middle of Calzada Federalismo.

The 160 vendors are now in place at the market and will hawk all kinds of holiday merchandize, including trees, decorations, lights, creche figures and other seasonal merchandize each day until Christmas Eve.

First reports from vendors indicate that while attendance is understandably slightly down, sales are still brisk.
