SInger Lupita Jimenez preps for busy week

Lakeside singer Lupita Jimenez is doing double duty this week with two traditional performances.

First, the dynamic songstress is the featured entertainer at Ajijic’s traditional annual Desfile de Rebozos (parade of shawls) on Sunday, September 14 in the Ajijic plaza. Jimenez will be joined by lakeside mariachis in the gazebo providing the perfect music as the women and girls stroll the plaza while modeling traditional shawls and dresses. The Desfile de Rebozos event is presented without charge.

Jimenez is marking her 25th anniversary as an entertainer by hosting a celebratory concert she has entitled “Mexican Traditions.”

Backed by Guadalajara group Jalisco es Mariachi, she will take the stage of the Auditorio de la Ribera at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19. Jimenez will also be releasing an anniversary CD of her favorite traditional Mexican music to commemorate her anniversary.

Tickets for the anniversary concert are available for 200 pesos at the Auditorium de la Ribera or at the Hunter Douglas store on the Carretera in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
