Spotlight on multi-dimensional woman at MUSA

One of the most engaging art shows to hit Guadalajara in some time is a retrospective of Spanish-born surrealist Remedios Varo at the University of Guadalajara’s MUSA, located in the equally engaging area at Avenida Vallarta and Enrique Diaz de Leon, slightly west of the city’s historic center.

I wanted to start by calling it a “cool” show, because coolness is what you notice when entering the polished Museo de las Artes on a sweltering day and making your way up the graceful staircase to the Varo exhibit. (But while still downstairs, you might take a peek at Orozco’s famed mural “The People and their Leaders” in the Paraninfo, which occupies the same UdG Rectory building as MUSA and is open on the same extended schedule — daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
